HFS visits Matlapaneng Primary School

HFS in partnership with Smollan IT Visited Matlapaneng Primary School on 28 June 2018 and Donated Desktops, Tablets, Smartphones and Canned food.

Amo welcomed us with a Poem on Albinisim in line with the school’s weekly theme.

Pupils were excited to see Alun Davies in their school grounds again, he is a partner of the school and has had a session with the school prefects to discuss Leadership.

The School Library

The School Library houses “Rachel” the school’s WiFi Router through which pupils are able to connect to the internet and download text books. The School had ten tablets for the entire school. The Donation is a step in the right direction as more pupils will be able to connect.

The grade R Class rendered a beautiful Item even though they were caught off guard.

The School has a computer room with old computers which are not working and the server was switched off  years back so it is now used for other purposes other than computer literacy. There’s a need to revive the computer.

Doing Good Is Good Business.

The School Kitchen

The School kitched is called “Steers”, Matlapaneng Primary is a non-fee paying school and learners are provided with two meals a day, one in the morning before school starts and the other at lunch.

The food is prepared by voluteers who also have to ensure that the kitchen is kept clean.

The School also has a vegetable garden which is maitained by the CWP – Community.

Winning Against all Odds

We had the privilege of meeting Savanthika Pillay, Learning Process Facilitator, from Symphonia who explained the purpose of the  Partners for Possibility Programme.

The PfP initiative speaks to the idea that enhancing the quality of education, improving the school environment and encouraging engagement between parents and teachers are meaningful and attainable goals that would provide an upward spiral of real change in society.
