WISE Awards 2018: PfP featured on national media platform

Following the announcement as a winner of the 2018 WISE Awards, renowned South African journalist Tim Modise, on his eNCA slot ‘The Modise Network’, spoke to Dr Louise van Rhyn about the innovative PfP project and its impact.

‘Is the South African education system fit for purpose?’.

In first segment of the interview, Dr van Rhyn provides a brief, but informative synopsis of the current education system in South Africa, and how the previous system of inequality and segregation has largely contributed to the current state of education.

She then goes on to explain the work of the PfP programme over the past 8 years of its existence, pointing out that this particular acknowledgment of PfP’s far reaching impact is like ‘’winning the Oscars in education’’.

The second segment of the interview focusses on Dr van Rhyn’s personal journey, and how she embarked on a career as a social entrepreneur.

She believes that the PfP platform has allowed her to meaningfully contribute to the country of her birth, and ultimately give every child a shot at a dignified life through improving the quality of education delivered.
