Zonnebloem Boys Primary Zonnebloem Boys Primary School Sustainability Day 2014

Article by Heike Moore on behalf of Swiss Re Life.

Filled with enthusiasm and excitement, most of the Cape Town staff came to work on Monday 8 December, wearing their new t-shirts and eager to get started at either Zonnebloem Primary or Zonnebloem High School, depending which project they had signed up for. We are mindful of the ones that weren't able to join us due to deadlines & work commitments and look forward to hearing about their involvement with Chilanga Riding

School for the Disabled at the end of January!

The mission at Zonnebloem Primary School was to brighten up some walls with colorful murals. We used a company called See-Saw-Do who came and prepared the walls in advance so all we had to do on the day was color in the murals. Some went beyond the call of duty and were really creative by adding some personal touches to the murals!! What's really rewarding is that from the office we can see our newly created "granny" peaking through the
trees.

Mulalo had this to say:
"The Sustainability Day was such an awesome day! I really had fun painting the walls knowing that it will brighten up the playground for the children. It is such a great feeling to know that we have contributed to children happily playing with the characters on the walls. Thank you once again for organising such an amazing day."

As you can see, the walls turned out amazing and even though it was blazing hot we were grateful that the Cape Doctor decided to take the day off. Lots of sunblock was used & many cold drinks consumed and the sense of fulfillment once all was done was incredible. Unfortunately we weren't there the following day to see the faces of the kids but I'm sure, they must have been super excited.
