Job Profile: Citizen Leader Lab, Finance Administrator

Location: Cape Town 

Citizen Leader Lab NPC is a non-profit organisation that develops conscious leadership to build social cohesion, uplift communities and work towards achieving a just society. The organisation’s focus is mobilising active citizenship to drive positive change in education, through its different programmes, like Partners for Possibility (PfP), School Leadership Forum (SLF), Senior Management Training Programme (SMTP) and School for Community (SfC). The Finance manager role is critical to the success of the organization.

Purpose of the Role:
The Finance administrator will work with the Finance Manager and Chief Operating Officer to ensure the accounts are in order from day to day.

Job requirements:

This is a full time entry-level role. The main responsibilities are to:

  • Capture finance data on Pastel and Excel
  • Assist with budget compilation and – calculations
  • Manage debtors – issuing of invoices and assist with the calling of debtors to collect outstanding debt
  • Manage creditors – assist with the processing of invoices and following up on outstanding invoices
  • Deal with creditors’ queries
  • Assist with the distribution of course books across the country
  • Making copies and scanning of documents
  • Occasionally deliver and pick up documents / parcels
  • Assist with administrative tasks to ensure expenditure/income is accounted for
  • Supporting the Finance manager where needed
  • Contribute to the management of the Bank account and Petty cash accounts across the country
  • Attend relevant networking events from time to time and work flexible hours if required
  • Have your own transport and a valid driver’s license

Skills requirements:

  • Proven skills and demonstration of work experience in the financial field will be an advantage
  • Passionate about the work and alignment with the vision, purpose and mission of the organisation, recognizing that funds received will benefit the impacted communities we work with
  • High level of integrity, good governance practices, commitment and perseverance
  • Superior communication abilities including written and oral skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and collaborate with donors, service providers,
    colleagues, external accountants and auditors, and board members
  • Good planning skills with the ability to identify and execute priority actions to be successful
  • Self-motivated and resourceful; a self-starter; innovative and able to work with considerable
    independence within the context of a team environment; able to work effectively remotely or virtually
  • Good teamwork skills to contribute towards the overall success of the Operational team
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, highly adaptable 
  • Experience working with sensitive information and ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise
    discretion 
  • Resourceful and flexible; a quick thinker with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, complexity and working in situations where there are no clear-cut answers 
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment, understanding how important it is to give feedback to your
    colleagues in other parts of the country when you don’t see them regularly 
  • Digital skills; appreciation of technology in accounting

Qualifications and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in the financial field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience 
  • Knowledge / experience in Sage 1 Pastel would be a benefit 
  • Demonstrable experience in Excel and Word
  • Fluent in English, ability to speak additional languages would be a benefit
